Knowing Body

Tia K. Panagos, M.A.

Humans have been in the grip of pain for eons, ever since they... entered the realm of time and mind, and lost awareness of Being. ~Eckhart Tolle

How to Be There When Your Body Cries Out
When your body is hurting, it is in need of your attention.

Go slowly and gently. This is not another thing on your "to do list." This is your ever present Self needing you to slow down and listen.

Notice what you are feeling when you just think about the possibility of offering unconditional attention to what is hurting in your body. Maybe you feel angry that the pain, or other condition, is even there. Maybe your mind keeps thinking of things to distract you from really being present with the sensations in your body.

Everything is okay. Try not to judge anything as good or bad or right or wrong. Simply keep coming back to what Is.
One of the quickest ways to become aware of yourself in any given moment is to feel yourself breathing. Don't make it big, or try to change it in any way. Just experience yourself breathing... in and out and in and out. From there, you can expand your awareness to your back, to your feet and anywhere else you feel drawn to in your body.

Feeling your experience from this place of awareness in your body is extremely powerful. When you are connected to your Self through feeling the sensations of being alive, you can begin to connect with all that Is. You can know that, just as your body is made of moving energy, so is everything around you. You are truly never separate or alone. There are infinite resources available to you at all times. You simply need to slow down and pay attention to know where to look or what to follow. The door to the realm of universal wisdom is found through a clear and open mind and deep presence in your body.

Knowing your Self in this way also allows the fears and judgments of who you thought you were, to simply fall away. You can know that you are far bigger and more magnificent in your connectedness with all that Is, than you previously thought. From this place of unconditional presence within your body, you can compassionately witness the expressions of your physical form. Even the most intense physical experiences, such as breaking a bone, having a migraine headache, undergoing surgery or birthing a child, can be navigated confidently by trusting in the process of your body and its oneness with universal Being. You can know that you are always held, comforted, and given the tools you need to continue to the next moment.
